Roof

View looking down on to the collapsing roof of a “modern” house that used an ancient construction technique for its roof.

Note how the larger timbers support a cross web of smaller branches and how they in turn supported a pebble, mud, and plastered roof. A close look at the interior walls of this building will also indicate how they were plastered.

It is evident that without proper upkeep, such houses fall into disrepair rather quickly.
