Ceremonial Chariot

The well-preserved bronze remains of a chariot that was built at the end of the Bronze Age or the beginning of the Iron Age (ca. 800 B.C.). The large bronze bucket-shaped casing was in the position where you would expect there to be a place for a person(s) to ride. Thus, it is concluded that this chariot was used for rituals for a (solar?) deity, not for combat or for processions.

The chariot remains were discovered in1888 at Côte-Saint-André (Isère). Restored by C.R.HK.S. in Nancy.
