Nero

Nero

Head of the Roman Emperor Nero (ruled A.D. 54 to 67). Note (on an enlarged version of the image) the faint beard on his chin! This may be a sign of mourning. Found in the Julian Basilica.

Artifact on display in the museum at Corinth.

Joe Geranio of the Julio Claudian Iconograpic Association has informed me that this is NOT the Emperor Nero but rather Nero Julius Caesar, the brother of Caligula and Drusus Julius, the sons of Germanicus. For additional information Click Here.
