Middle Circular Terrace

View north looking down on the Middle (circular) and Lower Terraces of the Northern Palace. The Middle Terrace was a circular reception all, apparently with a pointed roof. It was surrounded by columns (a tholos). Only the circular foundations, partially rock-hewn and partially built, have survived. Abutting the cliff there were two rooms, one of which may have been a "library"—there are indications of shelving slots carved into the rock cliff.

Both the Middle and the Lower Terraces were luxury reception and relaxing centers. The square wooden platform below the circular MT is the Lower Tier.

In the upper portion of the image a square, unexcavated, Roman Camp (Camp C), and to the right of it the outline of the remains of the siege wall.
