Catholicon and Iconostasis

View looking east from the center of the Catholicon looking at the iconostasis — the wall on which icons are hung - and at the Royal Doors (open) that lead into the altar area where the elements of the Eucharist are blessed. The icon on the right side of the open doors is of Christ as He will come in glory at the second coming. On the left of the doors is an icon of the Virgin Mary holding Jesus - as he was at His first coming. Note the altar in the center.
