Eastern Palace Basement 1

View of a portion of the basement of the eastern section of the two-part palace of the Palace of Agrippa II. Note the finely dressed carved limestone blocks and the archway of the underground passageway.

On the right, notice the arch of the passageway and above it the "relieving arch" that would have supported the massive walls of the upper palace.

On the left, additional arches of what might have been a room.
