Loess Soil
ID: ISBNBS11

View from the top of Tel Sheva looking north at the surrounding countryside. The light brown soil is "loess soil," which is a fine windblown soil that is characteristic of the biblical Negev. It is not too fertile, is very fine, and tends to "coagulate" when wet, thus encouraging run off and flooding.
