Palace & Lake

View looking south at the Tobiad Palace (center of image). The Wadi es–Sir flows from right to left, and beyond the palace was a large embankment that dammed up the wadi so that a lake was formed in this area. The brown/green area on this side of the palace was part of the lake, and indeed, the palace itself was actually situated on an “island” in the middle of this man–made lake!

The palace was accessed via small boats and it must have been beautiful as its shape was reflected in the blue–green water!
