Column Base

View of a beautifully carved basalt column base brought to light during the excavations of Robert Braidwood at Tell Tayinat. A large cedar column would have been placed on top of this base. This column base, among others, was used in a palace that is dated to the 8th century B.C.

This column base is on display in the archaeological museum in Antakya.
