Temple of Apollo Klarios

View looking southwest at the unexcavated remains of the Temple of Apollo Klarios that is located in the Lower City of Sagalassos—in the center of the image. It was originally built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Augustus (27 B.C.-A.D. 14). It was repaired and rededicated to Apollo Klarios and the Imperial family in A.D. 103-104—during the reign of Trajan.

It towered over the Agora of the Lower City—located below it and to the east (lower left quadrant of image).

It was turned into a church in the Byzantine Period.

It is #6 on the Plan of the Lower City.
