Augustus Temple 2

View looking down and north at the Augustus Temple complex. The temple was built upon the foundations located in the center of the image. Portions of this podium were built out of living (bed) rock and still stand to a height of 8 ft. [2.5 m.].

This temple was set in a semi–circular area, the outline of which can be seen on the right side of the image. It was approached via a monumental gate that had been built by the Roman Emperor Tiberius (A.D. 14–37).
