Kouros/Kore
ID: TWNAPM10

Statue of a Kouros from the Archaic Period (ca. 500 B.C.). A "kouros" is a statue of a young man or boy that dates to the Archaic Period (600–480 B.C.) — the female counterpart is a "kore."
This statue, life-size, is labeled as a "kouros" (= male) in the museum, but since it is clearly clothed it, in reality, might be a "kore" (= female) — for "korai" were almost always clothed while the "kouroi" were almost always nude.
This artifact is on display in the museum at Bergama (the modern city by Pergamum).
