Roman Temple Front

View looking southwest at the entrance to a very well–preserved Roman Temple (ca. second century AD). It is located at the end of the "Harbor Street" and faces a portion of the harbor. It is of the “Corinthian Style,” but it did not have any colonnade surrounding it.

It stands on a platform measuring 42 x 52 ft. [13 x 16 m.]. In places, it is preserved to a height of 34 ft. [10.3 m..] and the intact doorway is 20 ft. [6.1 m..] high!!

It is not known to which deity the temple was dedicated. It might have been built as an Imperial Cult Temple—a Sebasteion.
